I read some article saying they're an immense pain in the ass to deal with but have never seen them unpeeled and in the pod. What do they look like?

They're just big--like as long as a normal string bean pod, but fat, as big around as a finger (or bigger) and bulging like a pea pod.

Big sizes are intriguing when you're talking about laundry detergent at CostCo or Sam's Club, but in other things like food they strike me as freakish.
