Well, a survey thing.
Jan. 31st, 2003 02:09 pmI'm not real keen on loads of surveys and polls, but I like the occasional one that reveals interesting stuff about all of you. So, to that end....
Tell me something about where you grew up.
I grew up in a small town in Nebraska which really isn't considered a small town there. There's a university in town where my father has taught for over 35 years. It was nice being a faculty kid.
Tell me something about where you currently live.
Ann Arbor, MI is a great little city that benefits from (and revolves around) the university being here. It makes the place progressive, diverse, overeducated, internationally-flavored, high-tech, and jam-packed with bookstores, good restaurants, and coffee shops.
Favorite aspect of your job?
I do a lot of work independently, and I get loads of satisfaction knowing that my work helps people make better decisions. And up there just as high is my work environment. I love my coworkers; they are like family.
Least favorite aspect of your job?
Having to work full-time. I would be happier if I could do this more like 30 hours a week.
How do you unwind at the end of the day?
I read, if I can. 99% of the time I read before I go to sleep. Reading before bedtime (that, is in the evenings after work) is difficult because my son understandably wants my attention.
What's your favorite room in your house? Why?
This is a surprisingly difficult question. The rooms that I consider the best are the ones I don't get to spend enough time in--like the newly-remodeled sitting area in the basement. I like it because I love the couches we bought, and it's such a peaceful place to curl up and read a book. I've also had some nice gatherings of friends there. I'd like to say the kitchen, because I love to cook and people always gather there during parties, but I hate cleaning it so it takes it down a notch.
Tell me one mistake you made with your life.
Keeping a toxic, difficult, needy, demanding, dominating, gossipy, selfish friend in my life. You wouldn't BELIEVE the impact that had on my psyche, my social life, etc.
What's for dinner?
Good question; we'll probably go out. After all, it's Friday and payday and Mark will be coming home late from his consulting job.
Cake or pie?
Cake, all the way. I don't like most fruit pies.
Soft drink of choice?
Diet Pepsi damnit. And I can taste when the fountain mix is off, so watch what you serve me.
