Feb. 19th, 2003 09:48 amHm, that's kind of cool.
I was not anywhere near the big peace demonstration they had here a few weeks ago, but I just saw an aerial photo they took. They got the marchers to form a huge peace sign on campus. It's huge--you can't tell from the photo unless you're familiar with the landmarks and the size of the U-M diag, though. Pretty cool--even if you're not into this peace movement, I am fascinated by the organizational skills it must have taken to get everyone's ass in the right place.
After 9/11 I trooped all over town looking for some sort of peace-oriented, granola-inspired, let's-not-hate-muslims bumper sticker to put on my car. I went half a dozen places and struck out. I turned to my friend and said completely without irony, "If I don't fine a peace sticker soon I'm going to have to kill somebody!" Three seconds later I realized the incongruity of that.
You see, I'm for peace generally, like on a worldwide level, but I still reserve my right to get violent with the idiots and moron who cross me in my daily life. It's a scale thing.
