Oooold Friends.
Mar. 13th, 2003 01:06 pmWild. Got a phone call from my old friend Nick today.
Nick and I met at geek camp (two years in a row) over 20 years ago. He lived in CO, I lived in NE, and that meant we never saw each other. We sent the occasional letter. He went to West Point, I went to a college in VA. We saw each other once when I was still living in VA and he was stationed in KY. Then he went to Germany after the gulf war, and I visited him there. Since then he's been to Korea, China, Monterey, El Paso, CO Springs, Atlanta, Boston, and a lot of places in between. He's married, with a son a bit older than Cranky Jr., on his way to being a full Colonel.
It is so amazing to me that we've stayed in touch (however sporadically) all these years. We were KIDS when we met. He's the only one from camp I am still in touch with. I'll bet the guy who started the camp would be tickled pink to hear about this.
