...but then she had a hand in it too.

I was strolling into work when I heard a wee pop, like a car's door being pushed in. I looked and a minivan had miscalculated while parking and had run her car against the taillight of the truck in the space ahead of her. And then she drove off. Of course, not before I got her license plate number. Heh.

The damage to the truck was minimal, but she should have stopped. I didn't know who the owner was, and I was the only witness, so I called the police. As I was waiting for them.....lo and behold but who should cruise by again but....the minivan. She'd obviously seen the damage to her own car and had come to see what the truck looked like. She drove off again without stopping (it's possible she didn't see the damage through her tinted windows). No sooner did she get out of sight than the police came. And I gave them the info.

So, sorry honey, the police are going to come calling. I feel for you. I really do. So does the officer I spoke to. But you should have stopped. I have three dings and scrapes on my car from people just like you.

That truck's owner should love me, too, by the way. Not that it was a lot of damage, but still, it wasn't his fault.

Well, we all know I have an obsession with nuns that won't quit. I've also been intrigued by Hijab (muslim headscarf) for some time. I suddenly wondered if these two were connected.

When I see a woman wearing the headscarf, I feel sort of envious. Some of the women around here don't wear plain ones but rather very lovely patterns. Maybe I feel that way because it seems exotic to me. Or maybe because I like the idea of freedom from bad hair days. Or because I admire such an outward expression of faith. And while this defeats the intended purpose, I also think the scarves are very alluring. What does the woman's hair look like? Is it straight, or wavy? How long is it? Not knowing is intriguing. I am also influenced, I think, by some essays I read by some well-educated, professional women who described their decision to wear the headscarf. I totally got what they were saying.

And then we've got nuns, not all of whom wear head coverings of course, but I find myself intrigued by those who wear the full habit.

So is it the head thing? Do I have a secret wish to bewimple myself?

I can just see it now.

Friend: "Cranky, you've converted to Islam? What made you accept Mohommed as the true prophet?"

Cranky: "I don't know about any of that. I'm just in it for the clothes."

I just bought another nun book on half.com. I'm not even Catholic.

Wow, the Ontario tourism folks are desperate and deals to be had are eye-popping.

If I didn't have a baby shower to go to this weekend..... I swear I'd have us up there in a heartbeat.

Socks with sandals again today.

Today, I am offending all of you would-be Elsa Klensches by wearing BLACK socks.

However, the fact that they have green frogs all over them should redeem me somewhat.

In other news, Kirk has discovered toilet humor. He said something was "poopy" last night and then giggled maniacally. And so it begins.
