(no subject)

My floor looks great. However, it's a little bit higher than the old floor, so my fridge no longer fits in its space! Argh! I think we can plane down the cabinets and wedge it in there, however.

Temptation

I am one of the last office holdouts on not upgrading to Mac OS-X (jaguar). I've been very quiet about it so everyone has forgotten and they think that only my coworker Ruth is the last holdout. But I am too.

However, I just found the Apple music site. I really want to buy music, not just to have it but also to support a site which distributes music LEGALLY! But I-tunes only works on OS-X. Is this enough of a factor to send me over the edge? I don't know.

The computer guys SWEAR they've resolved the OS-X issues, but I note that we still can't save text files on the OS-X server. And my buddies find that Macros run slow as molasses. Decisions, decisions.

Making a difference

The local and regional news have written a lot about the Iraqi girl who is coming to our burn unit to be treated. Well, she's not just coming, she's here. She's surfing the internet and hanging out with the nurses in the burn unit and enjoying a stuffed bear the hospital gave her. She's going to be here a while because her injuries couldn't be treated well in Iraq and it's been a month of improper healing and scarring.

What I didn't know, before today, is that it was one guy, one normal guy like you or me, who set the whole thing in motion. He called the hospital up, out of the blue, and got them to agree to treat her. Then he started to arrange to get her hear. He's just a regular guy. This amazes me, but in a good way.
