Various and Sundry

OMG, the new guy is a closeted baseball numbers nerd. I walked in last week and saw mlb.com on his screen, but thought nothing of it. Yesterday we were discussing data management software and he brought up Excel's limitations when it comes to churning out his baseball models. Aha! I asked if he did fantasy baseball--no, in fact, he does odds calculations. He has these models that say things like: if Team A is at home coming off a 2-game or more winning street, meeting Team B coming off a two-game losing streak, with three left-handed players and the game is played within three days of a full moon, Team A has odds of winning that are XX. I made up the full-moon and the handedness part, but you get the idea. I wish I'd known about this when I was in Vegas. Anyway, he's delightful and I'm so glad we hired him.

The gluten- and dairy-free diet proceeds apace. Husband thinks it's helping. I'm not sure. I have spend a staggering amount of money on groceries this month.

I had given up hope this morning and put on cords and was reaching for a turtleneck when I had a sudden change of heart. I will not cave. I will not dress like it's March.

Today marked the first time I spent over $50 to fill my gas tank.

As for Top Chef (this isn't a spoiler) I was secretly rooting for them to send TWO people home. I would have loved that.
