This is the 6th grade mind
May. 4th, 2011 08:19 amToday I was halfway to work before I remembered that my son was in the backseat and needed to be taken to school. This is why I shudder at those stories about parents who forget to drop their infants at daycare. Had I not realized it myself, I suspect I would not have known until he wandered out of my car and into my office at lunch, pleading hunger. He was so engrossed in his book, he was super quiet back there and didn't notice my route, either.
Anyway, after I got THAT straightened out, he put down his book and as we drove I gave him some reassurance about his homework. They are studying the constitution, and he thought his teacher was wrong in an example he gave about presidential veto powers. We told him last night that he could disagree, he just had to explain why. So this morning I reminded him that there are many parts of the constitution the meaning of which Americans debate, and this is what keeps the Supreme Court so busy.
He then asked, "Would you bring back George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to explain it to us, even if it kicked off the zombie apocalypse?"
