I don't know what to make of this.

My son's school is observing National Talk Like a Pirate Day.

HIS SCHOOL.

Oh, I know they did. I'm sure the kids will LOVE it. I'm just not sure whether I find it funny, annoying, disturbing, or what. Partly, I was thinking it was kind of tired. Seems like it took off 3 or so years ago on the internet and was HI-LAR-IOUS for awhile there and now isn't so much. But maybe that just my cynical, bitter, and haggish side shining through again.

Well, 3 years ago the kids were practically in diapers, so for THEM it's all new. Just think of it that way. :D

We have the gear--not that I think my kid will dress up.

A couple of years ago, he said he wanted to be a pirate for Halloween. I was totally excited, was willing to go to some lengths to do the costume up right, and the esteemable gundy even ceded me some of the trappings from her son's last pirate costume....but on that night, all my son wanted to wear was a Long John Silvers hat, plain pants, and a shirt. Or, as gundy aptly summed it up, he dressed like a LJS employee. Even his little friends were like, "Those look like your regular clothes!" So all the gear is unworn....maybe he'll go for it.

If he goes for it, take some pics and put them in place of the other Halloween ones...noone will be the wiser.
