Small world

Or maybe it's just that we all like to leave.....

In line at the Sacramento airport the woman behind me had a big cargo box labelled with her address, which was an hour from my hometown. After we exchanged the secret cornhusker greeting, the woman two ahead of me turned around and revealed she also grew up in Nebraska.

We are everywhere, people. Or at least, we are all in Sacramento.

Sadly we are also all now experiencing mechanical problems. But that's another story.

Almost everywhere. You will never find anyone from Gage County anywhere outside the confines of the state, or perhaps a few miles into Kansas. We left Beatrice in 1968 and in all the time since have never seen a Gage County license plate anywhere else. Cars from even those western counties where there's maybe 10 people per square mile, sure. But never, ever, Gage County. Those Beatrice people are insular folk.
