My father-in-law is an avid computer user who knows very little about how computers work. You tech support guys know the type. It's maddening. He loves tracking his stocks & mututal funds on the Quicken website, and he looooves being able to read MRI scans via the internet, but GOD FORBID he has to save an attachment or change a setting. Anyway, his computer has been all screwy lately, and we think he just needed to reinstall the OS, but on Saturday we started teasing him about how he should just get a new one. We were only kidding, but on Sunday, he took Mark out for advice and bought himself a new one. The happy ending is that we took the old one home--not the monitor, just the rest, and swapped out my computer which is not reading CDs. Hooray. Now I can play the Sims again, and Kirk can play some of his 100 kids programs.

Saturday night we went to a Tigers came--Comerica Park being just across the street from Ford Field, where Eminem was giving his first of only two concerts all year. It was a MADHOUSE. However, it was nice to see Detroit looking so lively. I thought I had been transported to another city. Kyla will be proud of me--I took some knitting to the ball game. Good christ, baseball can be dull.

Art Fair starts in two days. I'm usually a little enthused, but this year I am (a) broke and (b) occupied on Saturday, and thus am unable to organize a Doper ArtFair Excursion as I have in the past. So it may be little more than a parking nightmare with the mitigating factor of many more interesting lunch choices thrown in.

I WOULD be proud of you, except you said baseball is dull. No soup for you!

Oooh, this is the second year in a row I'll miss the Art Fair. Boo hiss. I wanna go and look at pretty things I can't afford!

I must be spoiled by hockey, because I find watching a live baseball game to be the most excruciatingly slow, boring thing going. Oh my God, ram an icepick repeatedly into my eye for a diversion!

I feel your pain.

Baseball can be dull? Yeah, and knitting is just a hotspot of excitement.

Baseball is not dull, dammit. Not if you understand it. The drama is in the inaction between pitches.

And if you're keeping score (which I always do whenever I attend a game), you get more of a feeling for what the upcoming potentialities are.

Baseball dull. Pfffft. And you call yourself a PhD.
