Hee. When someone asks me where I was when Operation Iraqi Freedom began, I've got an answer worth remembering--I was in the emergency room!

That's right, at the 8 pm deadline, I headed to our local Level I Trauma Center!

No, not because I was paranoid about an anthrax attack. Kirk had back pain, and apparently it's so weird for a little kid to have back pain, our doctor said we should go check it out. Rule our kidney infection, neuroblastoma, other bizarre stuff that can cause back pain.

He's fine, no big deal, they don't know what it was, we just spent five fun hours in the pediatric ER listening to babies cry and watching the news.

Tee hee

In the mail today, I got one notice that our insurance payment didn't go through. Damnit, I upped my monthly contribution to savings so that wouldn't happen; something is fucked up.

Better yet, I got a note from our (Michigan's) Secretary of State (It's like the DMV). A month ago I went and waited for OVER 1 1/2 HOURS to get my goddamn license replaced. I've been waiting for the fucker to get here. Today the letter reads "We are not replacing it because according to our records, it is an out of state license." And yet the thing is addressed to me, with MY MI driver's license number on it. The driver's license number I have had for 9 GODDAMN YEARS.

When I go to straighten this out, who knows how long it will take, much less what it will take to prove to them that I HAVE HAD A LICENSE IN THIS STATE.

For some reason this just set me off. I mean, I am LIVID.

Bureaucratic fuckups are the worst.
