Yesterday over dinner I asked the kid how camp went. Did he switch to Pirate camp, like he wanted? No, as it happens, he decided to stay in Spanish Immersion camp after all.
I felt pleased, and more than a little smug. My smart boy! He stuck with the more intellectual camp! He met the challenge of foreign language head-on! This kid is GOING PLACES.
As all this parental self-congratulation was reeling through my head, I asked him why he stayed in Spanish. His response?
"So I could sharpen crayons."
He then proceeded to tell me how much he enjoyed peeling back the paper and turning the sharpener around and around. I don't know how much of Spanish Immersion camp is taken up with crayon maintenance (do I even want to know?), but apparently it's a hit with Captain Genius.

ETA: I just realized it may randomize the photos. So far, everyone I've seen has been pretty punchable, however. It was the woman-in-black, man-in-white couple that first got me.
