This will be the last thing I get from Ikea. Ever.

In an earlier entry this spring, I mentioned that for the basement we want a bunch of Billy bookcases from IKEA, along with the glass-front Byom doors and a few pieces from the Bonde line to hold the TV and stuff. It took me forever to measure and plan things out, but finally we had it all sussed out. We know exactly what we want, which sizes, how many doors, what fake wood finish we want, and where it will go.

I just cannot begin to explain what a total clusterfuck it has been trying to get this stuff from wherever IKEA might have it to our home. We have used the web. We have used the catalog. We have made a trek to the store 25 miles away. Each attempt has been thwarted in ways both large and small. I'm not even going to try to explain it all. In a last-ditch effort, we are going to attempt to phone in an order using materials we got from the store (which differ from that which is in the catalog, and which differ from what's online).
