I didn't know about this "New Seven Wonders of the World" thing until today. I don't understand why the Statue of Liberty is a finalist. Perhaps I don't understand some feature of its design or engineering that makes it a wonder? Or maybe I'm just an asshole?
On to other thoughts.
Every time I see the word "biopic" I think of it as rhyming with "myopic." It's like a brain stutter.
A few years ago my book club read "A Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing" and I didn't much care for it. I've recently re-read it and, go figure, I think it's quite good. WTF? I feel remarkably guilty for disparaging it at our meeting way back when, because knowing me, I surely tried to talk everyone else into hating it too. I feel like I owe the author an apology.
I have the sweetest parking space today. This coming-in-early thing has some advantages.
I had a very accomplished weekend. Sold my dining room table, bought our plane tickets home, purchased a new TV, ordered those goddamned IKEA bookshelves (not without further hassles, naturally), waged war on some invasive little sucker trees and came out mostly victorious, and did a bunch of other little things that feel so good to have done. It makes for a good Monday.
