So we saw that penguin movie

March of the Penguins was more than worth the price of admission, but that's some crazy shit. This is how one propogates a species? It's NUTS. Who the hell came up with this system? Mother Nature? Some evolutionary process? An "intelligent designer"? Sadistic designer more like it. It's whacked.

Actually, it has all the makings of a government project now that I think of it. Yet I thought Antarctica had no government?

That was almost word-for-word one of my comments to DH on the flick. It's so SENSELESS.

Man, I woulda made pact with the other penguins. "Guys, we're the last generation. Let's just be okay with extinction."

Or "hey, I have an idea! Let's put the eggs closer to the food!"

Why, what happens? Do they all commit penguin hara-kiri?

It's just crazy amounts of work, struggle, hardship, and near starvation.

At the beginning of the film you feel bad for those who don't find a mate or whose eggs die of overexposure. Then you realize those ones got off easy.

I haven't seen it yet, but one reviewer I like said in the end he didn't like it because it was just so bothersome that their setup is so stupid.

Similarly, you might want to read Douglas Adams' Last Chance to See which has some hilarious stuff on reproductive stupidity.

Hmm. We were talking about this movie this weekend, and I figured I wouldn't bother with it in the theaters (which reminds me that I should save it on Netflix now) because I wasn't sure it would be worth a movie ticket price.

I was thinking it would be cutesy penguins marching that I could squee over, but sounds like there's more to it than that.

It's pretty amazing. And had some scenes that are worth seeing on the big screen.

Saw a preview for this at Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Was Morgan Freeman a god, as usual?
