I know as a responsible, concerned, informed citizen I should listen to Bush' speech tonight, but in all honesty I don't think I can bear to hear him talk about his vision/plan/strategy for the morass in Iraq.

I think I could watch reruns of "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic" and feel more morally uplifted.

Yeah, definitely. I have no interest in hearing what that man has to say.

I just know that I'm tired of the word "surge".

Unless I hear it from a stripper.

I just figure I'd be distracted by other stuff, and the word "surge" wouldn't bother me as much.

I like this idea. I think, going forward, all bad news should be relayed to us by means of strippers. Notification of a layoff wouldn't hurt quite as much if delivered while I'm enjoying a nice lapdance.

Right, but were I in said stripper's acrylic heels delivering layoff notifications/lap dances, I'd be expecting one crappy-ass tip.

From: [identity profile] blanx73.livejournal.com
Well, that depends on the size of the "severance package".

From: [identity profile] zanshin-dave.livejournal.com
What's this "tip" thing you speak of?

Okay, I kid, I kid. I keep a nice shiny quarter available for just such a contingency.

And you expect change back, right?

Think about where that change is kept, though.

Quarters for strippers? If I knew anything about strippers, which I naturally don't, I would imagine that might not be nice, Dave.

:D

Jesus, you amateurs!

You get the tip first, and then when thanking him (after you get done running your tongue around his ear) you whisper the pink-slip news.

Still, I'd rather work for the lap-dance raise announcement folks. Ahem. You know what I mean.

Well, in Michigan's economy, there is simply zero demand for THAT service.

i mean, is there any way to read it but as political positioning? "well we TRIED to win the war on Terror, but the democrats wouldn't give us enough soliders"?

I'd be really surprised if he has anything promising and hopeful to say--and even if he shocks us all with something well-thought-out, I will have little faith any plan can be executed well. Given the current situation there, how can it?

No matter what he speaks about, I don't like his oration style. He could be blowing smoke up my ass telling me everything I want to hear, but I still can't stand the sound of his voice.

Not going to tune in.

My thoughts exactly. It's like nails on a chalkboard, and I know I'll see the smirk and hear the "heh" and I'll be filled with rage. I've never before encountered anyone whose voice made me so incredibly angry.

That, and that smug fucking little smile of his; that and the sound of his voice just make me boil over.

Yeah, not going to watch that hunk of shit.

Same here. His voice just grates on me so much I want to poke out my eardrums with an icepick just to not hear it any more. It would probably only mildly irritate me if it were anyone else, but my dislike of him is so intense that it elevates it to near-madness.

Exactly. It's for my own well-being (mental & physical) that I won't be tuning in tonight.

TOTALLY agree...that smug fucking smile, as if it say "what aren't you idiots getting, I know what I'm doing here" makes me INSANE.

Wow. That's a very tall statement.

I'm definitely ignoring it. It's become a predictable pattern now - he makes a speech in which he says some stupid shit, the press starts fawning about how "presidential" and "commanding" he is, and the Democrats who question Fearless Leader will be demonized as "Defeatocrats" and "pro-terrorist." I predict that the "Today" show will have Tim Russert offering his "expert" analysis, and feature Matt Lauer demonstrating his massive man-crush on John McCain. Joe Lieberman will probably be on another network using his "independent" status to warn Democrats not to interfere with Fearless Leader's plans to Move Zig for Great Justice in Iraq.

It seems like the #1 qualification for being an "expert" on what to do in Iraq is to have been consistently wrong about it.

Last State of the Union address that was on, my water broke an hour later and I spent 20 hours pushing a baby out my vagina, so I am not going to listen, just in case . . .

A better antidote to a Bush speech is The Girl's Next Door. Or The Simple Life, that works as well.

I think Richard Cohen's column in today's paper pretty much laid it on the line. Shrub doesn't listen, and any time the facts are against him he either changes the rules or takes his ball and goes home.

And I'm not listening to Shrub try to justify being a total flaming moron again tonight, either.

It's a little less painful to read the transcript the next day. Goes a helluva lot faster, too, without all the applause breaks.

Oh God, even if I liked listening to Bush (which I don't) I'd still take a pass on his speeches because of all the damn applause breaks.

I know I've bitched about this in someone's comments before.

I caught a minute of it when my DVR switched back to regular TV after being on pause and couldn't change it fast enough.
